Troy's Swine Flu Pumpkin!!!
Our first session we made chunky applesauce...so worth the time. It is so good. After that we just stuck with making regular applesauce so we could get it done as fast as possible.
In the end we made 50 quarts and 100 pints. We finally ran out of jars, way before the apples were gone. So after we ate all we could we gave the rest to our pig that is almost ready to butcher. Until next year, the canning is done.

Her last night here we made a big dinner, Pad Thai and fresh spring rolls. Which all turned out really good.
Troy made up a great caramel Apple dutch oven dessert. Which was as good as it looks.
Even "Great" Grandma Purser was able to make it.

"Great" Grandma and Grandpa Hanson came also. It was great visiting with everyone. 
James thought we were growing corn from the tree after we put the corn stalks up and tied them to the tree stump.

However this tree is very overgrown and has not been taken care of over the past years. So we ended up with a lot of small apples.
The tree was just full of apples. 
We ended up with so many small apples, we decided this year we would just make applesauce and hopefully next year after we have trimmed it back, we will get a smaller amount of apples but bigger apples. 
They went from looking so nice and innocent....
To big and powerful. Sheep are strong animals. But we sure did enjoy having them. We can't wait for next spring when we can get some more.
So for now we will just have our chickens. And we will wait to see what next year brings on. 
The kids had a ball, just loved playing and not having to take baths. Annie played in the basket to keep her off the dirt and happy.
We had great weather while camping. The mornings were a little chilly but by lunch time the sun would come out and the kids would play and play.
Our first campsite had this little creek running by it and the kids loved throwing rocks in and trying to change the path of the water.

This was Annie's favorite thing to do. I would put her on a blanket to play and put her in the middle of it...she would then work her way over to the edge and pull the blanket back until she could reach the dirt. Then she would play in it. She loved being outside and did great camping.
The first night James managed to let one out and I was not about to go chasing after a chicken. So we thought we had lost that one, since they hadn't even been here for very long. However the next day we find it at our neighbors house and James manage to catch the crazy chicken.
We gave him the net thinking he could use it to catch the chicken in it, however he caught it with his hands and used the net to carry the egg back. Crazy kid. Since then James has let the chickens out a number of times, so much so that now when James comes out, the chickens practically run for the gate thinking they are getting out again. However we solved that problem by putting a spring on the door of the coop so that it always swings shut and the chickens stay in. He just loves to go out and check for eggs. Everyday he practically rolls over gets out of bed and runs to check for eggs. Most mornings in means no shoes, still in PJ's, and no coat. At least he has something that he likes to do. He especially loves to bring in the eggs that are still warm. Some days I catch him waiting outside the coop watching for an egg to drop. Gotta love the kid, he is so proud of his chickens when they give him an egg.

This was about halfway and it was already starting to wear on the kids.
All in all the day went great and we are so proud of Oscar and Rebecca for being such a great example to our boys.

Annie just loved getting her picture taken. But she was good at being a clown too! Look at the tongue. She is our "little Lady".
What would we do without these 3! They are our joy!
